Roth three-peats as EMC wrestling champion

Isaac Roth's 17-5 145-pound finals win over Gretna's Jeff Homan earned the Platteview senior his third consecutive Eastern Midlands Conference wrestling championship. Classmate Matt Williams finished on top at 215 pounds with a default win over Blair's John Tranmer. Two other Trojans seniors, Noah Keyes and Marshall Caillau, finished fourth while the Trojans finished seventh in the team standings.

Boys blast overmatched Auburn

Platteview held Class C1 Auburn scoreless in the fourth quarter of a 62-13 romp past the Bulldogs. Senior Gage Wichman led a dozen Trojans scorers with 11 points as Platteview ended its four-game losing skid and set a new school record for fewest points allowed. The previous record was set last season against Conestoga in a 63-29 win.

Girls notch second win of season

Platteview's girls basketball team got its second taste of victory this season with a 38-33 win over visiting Auburn. Senior Annie Benson led the Trojans with 11 points and 14 rebounds.

New football schedules released

The Nebraska School Activities Association has released high school football schedules for the next two-year scheduling cycle. Platteview will open the 2010 season at home against Wahoo Bishop Neumann.

Blue Devils boys prevail in overtime marathon

Junior Justin Meyer laid in agony on the floor after his coast-to-coast layup rolled off the rim as the buzzer sounded to end of the second overtime. The miss allowed host Plattsmouth to avoid a third extra period and score a 76-74 Eastern Midlands Conference win on its home floor.

Plattsmouth girls handle Trojans at home

Platteview enjoyed a short-lived 5-1 lead to open its game at Plattsmouth before a barrage of points gave the Blue Devils 19-point halftime lead. Plattsmouth went on to an easy 63-32 Eastern Midlands Conference win over the Trojans.

Third time hardly a charm for boys at Blair

Platteview was seeking to finally knock off second-seeded Blair in the first round of the Eastern Midlands Conference tournament. But the two teams' third meeting of the season was never in doubt after the Bears went up by 18 at halftime on the way to 73-50 shellacking of the Trojans, Blair's eighth straight victory over Platteview.

Roth, Williams second at Plattsmouth

Seniors Isaac Roth and Matt Williams picked up second-place medals at the Plattsmouth Invitational wrestling tournament. Roth lost 7-2 to Class A Lincoln High's Chase White in the 145-pound finals. Williams did not wrestle in the finals due to an injury suffered in the semis. The Trojans finished 10th in the 13-team field.
