Boys shock No. 10 Gretna to reach EMC finals

Visiting Platteview shocked second-seeded Gretna 53-48 in overtime to advance to the finals of the Eastern Midlands Conference tournament for the first time since 2002. The Class B No. 10 Dragons knocked down a pair of late free throws to force overtime but scored just four points in the extra period. The Trojans will face Elkhorn Friday night at 6 back in Gretna before the girls final between Gretna and Norris.

Trojans ambush Pioneers for big EMC win

Platteview jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead and never trailed before turning back a late rally by host Nebraska City to pull off a mild 44-39 upset of the third-seeded Pioneers in the Eastern Midlands Conference boys basketball tournament. Junior Camden Persigehl led the Trojans with 17 points, and senior Dylan Wills nailed a pair of big free throws with 16 seconds left to help seal the win.

Trojans finish 9th at Plattsmouth

Platteview sent just five wrestlers to the Plattsmouth Invitational but still scored enough points to finish ninth in the 13-team event. Seniors Dan Eads and James Gearhardt reached championship matches but came up short in their bids for gold and placed second. Senior Sheridan Mason finished third and senior Jordan Moore sixth.

Platteview's scoring woes continued at host Norris outscored the Trojans 32-16 in second and third quarters to post a 53-33 Eastern Midlands Conference win. Junior Camden Persigehl led Platteview with 10 points. A trio of Titans reached double figures led by Jason Willet with 15.

Class B No. 6 Norris tuned up for next week's Eastern Midlands Conference tournament with an easy 63-28 win over visiting Platteview. Felicia Telkoste score 19 points and Kasey Hohlen 15 for the Titans. Freshman Kenzie Kulm was the top scorer with Platteview with seven points to go with a team-high 10 rebounds.

Boys get first EMC win, third over Blair

Platteview's third win over Blair was the first for the Trojans in Eastern Midlands Conference play this season. This time around the Bears fell 63-51 as Platteview snapped its second three-game skid of the season behind a season-high 20 points from senior Dylan Wills.
