Roncalli rolls past Trojans boys on senior night

Coming off a big win earlier in the week against Eastern Midlands Conference rival Blair, Platteview came out flat against visiting Roncalli on senior night for the Trojans boys. The result was a tough-to-swallow 20-point loss to the Crimson Pride.

"We didn’t show up and play with the energy we needed to be successful against Roncalli," said Platteview coach John Stanton about the frustrating setback. "Compounding our less than adequate effort was poor field goal shooting."

A dismal 22 percent shooting from the field coupled with 16 turnovers contributed to the Trojans' woes. Platteview entered the game shooting 42 percent for the season.

Roncalli took a 10-point lead into the locker room at halftime then slowly pulled away in the second half as Platteview struggled to get back in the game.

A 9-2 run by the Pride to open the third quarter expanded their lead to 17 points. The Trojans never got closer than 14 the rest of the game.

Senior Adam Heimes scored 10 points to lead Platteview. Roncalli's Tre King led all scorers with 16 points. Teammate Jack Haley added 11 and Gaylind Drake 10 as the Crimson Pride shot 48 percent for the game.
