• Roth, Williams take home third place medals

  Platteview seniors Isaac Roth and Matt Williams both won twice today and finished third at the NSAA state wrestling championships being held at Qwest Center Omaha. Roth pinned Boys Town's Tre Richardson with 53 seconds left in the second period to earn his second straight third-place finish. Williams, in just his third year of wrestling, ended his stunning tournament run the same way it started, with a win over fourth-ranked Tom Keck of Bennington. Williams prevailed 6-5 after a flurry of action late in his third-place match.

  Top-ranked Christian Loges of Omaha Skutt knocked Platteview's Isaac Roth out of the 145-pound championship bracket in semifinals action at the NSAA state wrestling championships. The loss dropped Roth into Saturday morning's consolation semifinals with classmate Matt Williams, an 8-5 winner over Lukas Ramsey of Mount Michael in the consolation quarterfinals. Both Trojans are guaranteed a medal.

  Senior Isaac Roth picked up a pair of wins today to advance to the semifinals of the NSAA state wrestling championships being held at Qwest Center Omaha. Senior Matt Williams lost in the quarterfinals after upsetting fourth-ranked Tom Keck of Bennington in the first round. Senior Noah Keyes dropped his opening match and will wrestle again tomorrow morning in the first consolation round.

  Isaac Roth's 17-5 145-pound finals win over Gretna's Jeff Homan earned the Platteview senior his third consecutive Eastern Midlands Conference wrestling championship. Classmate Matt Williams finished on top at 215 pounds with a default win over Blair's John Tranmer. Two other Trojans seniors, Noah Keyes and Marshall Caillau, finished fourth while the Trojans finished seventh in the team standings.

  Seniors Isaac Roth and Matt Williams picked up second-place medals at the Plattsmouth Invitational wrestling tournament. Roth lost 7-2 to Class A Lincoln High's Chase White in the 145-pound finals. Williams did not wrestle in the finals due to an injury suffered in the semis. The Trojans finished 10th in the 13-team field.

  Trailing just 40-36 with one match to go, Platteview freshman Andrew Henry nearly delivered a match-winning pin for the Trojans at 119 pounds. But the Lions' C.J. Snodgrass got Henry on his back and scored a fall to secure his team's 46-36 win. Fort Calhoun defeated Platteview earlier in the triangular 48-30.
